Lake Atitlan Stories

Lake Atitlan My Casa

Posted in On Lake Atitlan by Jopa on the December 3rd, 2006

OK a few more pictures from my house.

There was this big old dead tree behind my house on public land, it had a note on it in Spanish that basically said please don’t cut this tree I love to sit here. Well, I woke up one morning to this guy cutting it down. I did not really want to get between some tree huggin hippy and a local with an axe so the tree is now gone.

This is my guestroom, it needs a tent still, but I think its the nicest room at my house

I have been adding a few things to my alter, here is a current picture.

Afternoon coffee is a little different then the table at shambala coffee house. Many days I sit on the wall in front of my house and watch the lake.

Sunset photo of the lake and Vulcan San Pedro from right below my house at the water.

And another. Vulcan San Pedro, Lake Atitlan, Guatemala.

Lake Atitlan Sunset Hike

Posted in On Lake Atitlan by Jopa on the December 3rd, 2006

Sometimes I take a hike around the point above my house. Here are some photos from one of those sunset hikes on Lake Atitlan.

The path through the rocks below my house is really pretty.

Its kind of a cloudy day but this is nice for the end of rainy season on Lake Atitlan. This is a picture of Vulcan San Pedro.

This is a really cool flower, stay tuned for my Lake Atitlan Flower Collection Photo album.

Sometimes you have to check your feet before you enter sacred space.

Sacred fire circle, kept nice and clean and used recently.

Me sittin in a tree (self photo)

Lake Atitlan Boat Ride

Posted in On Lake Atitlan by Jopa on the December 3rd, 2006

I went on a boat ride to a place near Santiago, Lake Atitlan with my friend, he dosn’t like photo’s so you won’t see him today. Here is a brief view of my trip accost Lake Atitlan on a very small boat.

Santiago is on the bay between all three Volcano’s here we go…

Here we dock at my friends place accost the bay from Santiago, Lake Atitlan.

I smoke a cigarette and watch the boat from the avocado tree, while my friend takes a walk to the top of his land.

This is what happens when old rainbows get a little crazy from trying to defend an organic community in Guatemala from the locals.

On the way back we stopped to fill gas in Santiago and got some water.

On the way back to San Marcos La Laguna, Lake Atitlan.

View of my house from the boat.

Here is a picture of my friends alter for luck…
